Some of the GEL team were fortunate enough to attend the recent 12th UK Geothermal Symposium from the 10th – 12th November. The event was held at the Burlington House in London, and the event focused on recent developments in geothermal research, technologies, and projects. This conference brought together people from throughout the industry, from geoscientists and engineers to decision-makers across academia, industry, and government. The Symposium provided a fantastic opportunity for discussion and progress towards the UK green energy transition.
Part of the symposium was a round table with MPs from Cornwall Perran Moon MP and Noah Law which was attended by GEL CEO Dr Ryan Law. This focused on how to overcome some of the strategic and political obstacles to help move geothermal into the mainstream as well as boosting economic development in Cornwall.
The UK is at a pivotal time in the growth of its geothermal sector, with the UK’s first ever deep geothermal powerplant soon to be up and running at our United Downs site. Make sure to follow us on our social media to keep up to date with our progress!
